Eriq Gardner at Puck has the receipts — and they're fascinating.
Gardner, who has been covering the Live Nation antitrust case since it was filed in 2024, broke the details this week of how superstar litigator Jeffrey Kessler of Winston & Strawn (now Winston Taylor) was brought in to represent the state attorneys general after the Justice Department appeared ready to cut a sweetheart deal with Live Nation and abandon the states just weeks before trial. Through public-records requests — Gardner's own reporting work — he's obtained the fee arrangement the states negotiated with Kessler, and it's anything but a standard retainer.
