The top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee is going straight to the source.

On Thursday, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) sent a letter to Eric Baker — not in his capacity as StubHub CEO, but as managing director of Andro Capital Management, the ticket-trading fund Baker partly owns. Garcia wants to learn more about Andro's business practices, which include deals with several Major League Baseball teams, among them the San Francisco Giants. Earlier this year, Andro helped finance a deal to sell Giants tickets on StubHub and other marketplaces. Andro reportedly also has deals in place to sell tickets on behalf of the New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals.

Andro competes with other companies that deploy millions of dollars to help teams maximize ticketing revenue — firms like Eventellect and DTI. Critics of the Andro-StubHub arrangement have questioned whether StubHub gives Andro better terms than other sellers, but sources tell Decibel that Andro spreads its ticket inventory across competing sites like SeatGeek and Vivid Seats. Last year, however, Vivid Seats removed Andro from a program it had created for high-volume sellers after learning of Andro's connection to StubHub.
