Spotify is in active negotiations with festival promoters for rights to carry live concert video on its platform, according to a Bloomberg report published Monday — a move that would mark the streaming giant's first foray into live video and put it in direct competition with YouTube for one of live music's most valuable digital assets.
The talks, confirmed by people familiar with the matter, come as Spotify accelerates a broader push into video content designed to boost user engagement and shore up a flagging advertising business. The company has already begun testing the waters, adding footage from select live events including a Dua Lipa show in Mexico City.
