Late last week, the judge overseeing the Department of Justice’s sweeping antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation granted in part (and denied in part) a motion to dismiss a number of the government’s claims.

This week, the Decibel and Docket podcast — the live entertainment industry’s premiere legal podcast — featured guest host Randy Nichols, a long time music manager, National Independent Talent Organization activist and advisor to top tier music technology companies.

Nichols spoke about his own meeting with Justice Department officials including former Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust Gail Slater and a number of now dismissed Trump antitrust enforcers, as well as his own reading on the sweeping ruling coming out of the Southern District of New York. Nichols also talks about the difference between a vertical monopoly and a horizontal monopoly, Live Nation’s own reaction to the ruling and a breakdown of who’s missing from the witness list.

The Decibel and Docket podcast is available on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts and always online at DecibelandDocket.com.
