We are less than a week away from launching Decibel and the news simply won’t wait.
That’s why I am sharing with you that Lucy Dickins, head of contemporary music at WME, is leaving WME. Dickins hails from WME’s London office and was tapped to run the agency’s contemporary music and touring department in August 2022, following the exits of Marc Geiger and Sara Newkirk Simon.
Earlier today WME Group Co-Chairman Christian Muirhead sent the following letter to the music department.
We wanted to share with everyone that our friend and colleague Lucy Dickins will be leaving WME.
Over the past seven years, Lucy helped us navigate one of the most disruptive periods in the live music business. As the head of our UK office, she re-energized our presence in London, built a strong team, and solidified WME’s leadership in the region. Then COVID hit and she dove right in, taking on her expanded role, relocating to Los Angeles, and providing critical support to our team during an unprecedented crisis.
On the other side of the pandemic, she led major signings, constructed innovative tour models, and brought exceptional heart and enthusiasm to our business.
Kirk Sommer will continue to lead the Contemporary Music division moving forward, and we will keep you posted with further updates.
Please join us in wishing Lucy the best in her next chapter.
The exit comes at a time of upheaval in the music booking space. A number of big name music agents like Kevin Shivers and James Rubin left the company last year to join Wasserman, which is going through its own shakeup as owner and namesake Casey Wasserman looks to sell the company. Dickins reportedly booked international dates for Adele along with Mumford & Sons, Hot Chip, Rosé and many more.
This is a breaking story and I will follow with additional details, either here or at Puck, where I contribute to Matt Belloni’s What I’m Hearing column. Stay tuned!
