EDITOR'S NOTE: We updated our StubHub story after conducting further review of the details on how StubHub planned to operate its FestProtect Program. Unfortunately, during that review, it became clear that the guarantees made by FestProtect were woefully inadequate and misleading.
StubHub is desperate to clean up its image after its disastrous handling of Coachella tickets last month, launching a new consumer protection platform that looks more like a bait and switch than an actual consumer protection initiative.
The new FestProtect platform, announced this week, promises festival-goers enhanced buyer protections, guaranteed ticket validity verification, and dedicated customer support channels for major music festivals. But read the fine print and it's clear that StubHub's new "program" is more of a contest than a consumer protection platform.
"Fans who submit concerns about these frustrations to the FestProtect platform could receive surprise upgrades, rewards, or future festival perks," StubHub explains in the small print. "FestProtect is not a guarantee of compensation, and not all claims will see rewards."
Good luck with that.
