A group of 21 state attorneys general filed a letter motion Thursday asking Judge Arun Subramanian to authorize discovery into the settlement the Department of Justice struck with Live Nation and Ticketmaster — the same settlement a jury's verdict on antitrust liability now sits alongside, awkwardly, on the docket.

The letter, filed under the Tunney Act, is a request for the court's permission to go digging. Not into the underlying antitrust case — the states already won that, on all liability counts, in front of a jury — but into how the DOJ's proposed settlement came together, and whether it's actually any good.
