Big shout out to the Bossman Michael Rapino and Live Nation’s Jordan Zachery for making this heartwarming video happen.
A New York single father who showed up in a social media creator’s video is now working full-time for Live Nation at Brooklyn Paramount. The hire came after CEO Michael Rapino saw the clip and asked his team whether the company could help.
The man is David Thurman. He appeared in a video posted earlier this fall by Zachery Dereniowski, the creator who posts as MDMotivator. Live Nation’s newsroom says Rapino came across the video and asked staff a simple question: could the company find Thurman a job?
Thurman had done maintenance work for McDonald’s and for the State Parks, according to the company. That background led to a visit to Brooklyn Paramount, the historic downtown Brooklyn venue Live Nation operates. There he toured the building and met general manager Heidi Amato. He is joining as a full-time maintenance assistant, and Live Nation says he may also work at its other New York venues.
The company put out the story on its newsroom and Instagram on Oct. 14. It presented the hire as part of a wider community-impact pitch about local jobs, neighborhood investment and giving back.
