Music fans will have more ways than ever to tune into three of the year’s biggest festivals. Disney+ is joining Hulu as a streaming partner for global livestreams of Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits.
The move expands the reach of Live Nation’s flagship festival broadcasts, with Disney+ bringing the events to a broader international audience alongside Hulu, which is now in its sixth year as the exclusive streaming home for the festivals. Bonnaroo runs June 11–14, Lollapalooza takes place July 30–Aug. 2, and Austin City Limits is set for Oct. 2–4.
Along with livestreamed performances, Disney+ and Hulu will revive Live Set, the on-site studio programming featuring artist interviews, backstage access, and behind-the-scenes coverage throughout each festival weekend.
“Music festivals are among the most electric, can’t-miss moments in culture, and now Disney+ and Hulu subscribers around the world can experience the excitement,” said Lauren Tempest, Head of Content Planning & Partnerships, DTC at The Walt Disney Company. “As we continue to expand our live offerings, we remain committed to bringing fans the biggest, most iconic moments as they happen, and are thrilled to partner with Live Nation to make that possible.”
The deal underscores the growing value of live music programming for streaming platforms looking to strengthen their live-event offerings. According to Live Nation’s Living for Live Global Study, 73% of fans say they are listening to more international artists than in the past, while 85% believe live music transcends borders and language.
“Music festivals used to be experiences reserved for the people who could physically be there,” said Kevin Chernett, EVP and Head of Global Media Partnerships at Live Nation. “Now they’ve become global live moments that fans want to experience together in real time, no matter where they are. Expanding this partnership with Disney+ and Hulu allows these festivals to reach audiences on an entirely different scale.”
